Before the doors

There is a very particular kind of attention that appears around a wedding. It is neither the grand kind nor the kind with a title. It is an aunt knowing which side of a collar needs one more pin. It is the person who moves a glass before it can spill. It is the friend who sees a face change, takes a breath with it, and says: come outside for one minute.

This issue follows those motions. Its people and scenes are imagined, but its subject is not: the accumulated human touch that makes an occasion feel inhabited rather than arranged.

Aura Stories / Edition 11: The Hands is an original editorial fiction. Its people, scenes, and imagery are imagined in honour of real human care.
