Two families, three cities, one long February
It begins on a rooftop in Bombay and ends in a ballroom in Bengaluru. In between are four days on a cliff above the Arabian Sea, where a Punjabi wedding and a Carnatic muhurtham will take place an hour apart, under the same canopy.

How we got here
Aditi came to Bombay for a six-week posting that ran to fourteen months. Ishaan was meant to be in Delhi. Neither of them went back.

One canopy, two rites
On the twelfth we will marry twice, which is the only fair way to do it.
The baraat leaves the cliff at four and walks down to the sand behind the dhol. At the mandap it is met, and the Punjabi ceremony follows: the milni, the jaimala, and four laavan around the fire.
At the muhurtham hour the priests change and the Carnatic rites begin — the kanyadaanam, the three knots of the mangalsutra, and the seven steps. The nadaswaram plays through both. It runs about three hours, there are chairs, and no one is expected to sit through all of it without a walk on the beach.
What it will look like

Dinner is on the sand, under lanterns. 
Mehendi runs all afternoon. Come early. 
The sangeet stage, Thursday. 
Low tables, mogra, and no speeches until dessert. 
And then, six days later, a ballroom in Bengaluru.
Getting there, staying there
Goa in February is warm, dry and busy. Book early — we have held what we could.
Stay

Rooms are held at the resort under Khurana–Iyer until the tenth of January. Overflow rooms sit five minutes up the road, and the desk can move you between them.
Move
Shuttles and cars
A shuttle loops between the hotels and every venue from an hour before each event until an hour after it ends. A car can be called from the desk at any hour of the night.
Details
What should we wear?
Indian festive through the week, and shoes that forgive sand and cliff steps. Haldi is yellow and will not wash out, so wear something you do not love. The ceremony is formal — silk, if you have it. The Bengaluru reception is black tie or a sari.
Are we invited to Mumbai and Bengaluru as well?
The welcome soirée in Juhu and the reception at The Leela are separate invitations. If yours includes them, your private itinerary will say so, and the shuttle and hotel notes for those evenings sit there too.
Is there anything we should not wear?
Please keep black and pure white for another week. Beyond that, wear what makes you happy.
Are children invited?
The children named on your invitation are very welcome. A supervised room beside the Garden Pavilion opens at eight on the wedding night, and the shuttle takes prams.
We have dietary needs. Who do we tell?
Tell us in your reply. Every meal carries Jain, vegan and no-onion-no-garlic options, and the kitchen works from that list rather than from memory.
How long is the ceremony on the twelfth?
About three hours, with both rites and a pause between them. Seating is provided, the mandap is shaded, and you are free to move.
What about gifts?
Your being on that beach is genuinely the whole thing. If you would like to mark it, we are collecting for the Vagator shoreline trust; the details are in your invitation.
One last thing
The cliff turns windy after sunset. Bring something for your shoulders, and we will meet you at the top of the path.
